Our Story:

Shawn and Gary had worked together in the past, Shawn as the designer and Gary as the builder.  As food & fitness freaks, Shawn and his wife Angie had started a pasture-centered farm (www.resilientfarm.com), and some paradigms began to change once they began to raise the kind of food we wanted rather than just buy it.  In order to heal the land and tread lightly on it, other than the barn – everything was designed and built to be mobile.  Skidded run-in sheds, mobile laying hen coops, moveable meat chicken tractors, portable electric fencing, water troughs were moved daily, etc… Running a farm like this certainly requires more leg work, and Shawn often thought about building some kind of a small shelter at the farm for he and Angie.  Because Angie’s family owned the land, the shelter had to be portable.  In addition, being a livestock farmer does not allow for much down time, and being so tied down began to accelerate Shawn’s wanderlust.  It was these circumstances that planted the seedlings in Shawn’s mind that grew into the shelter solutions you see here.

At the same time, Gary was busy building… and unbeknownst to Shawn, thinking about shipping containers.  He bought one as a job-site storage container, then he bought another one for a storage shed at home.  Thoughts of converting a container to living quarters just wouldn’t leave him alone, as well as the numerous benefits and applications.  He imagined a family needing an in-law suite, easily and quickly – done!  Perhaps a Millennial college graduate with a good job but doesn’t want to get too tied down in case opportunity presented itself elsewhere… new job in a new state – no problem — just ship your house there and go!  Even a couple who wants a small farmstead and is leasing land that doesn’t allow for permanent construction – just drop a fully finished and off-grid home on-site – problem solved!  The potential was staggering to Gary!

One day Shawn called Gary and said, “hey, I have an idea…”.  And Resilient Shelter Solutions was born.  Pre-fab tiny, containers, and insertible homes that can be set on a foundation, or wheels, or even in your truck, the lifestyle you’ve been dreaming of awaits.
